Katzen Eye Group is seeking a skilled Retina/Ophthalmic Technician candidate for our Rosedale, Md. offices. Some travel to our other Metro Baltimore locations will be required. Our preferred candidate must bring at least 2 years of prior retina/ophthalmic technician experience. Unfortunately, without this experience you cannot be considered for the position.

Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.

Responsibilities:

Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems

Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more

Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems

Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained

Assists with patient education.

Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination

Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room or office and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned

Qualifications:

At least two years of experience in a work up position within a retina or ophthalmology practice is required for consideration. COA/COT is highly preferred

Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business

Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology highly preferred.

Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail

Demonstrate superior computer skills

Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.

Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours

Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
