Role: Digital Workspace Engineer
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Company car scheme + private health care + discretionary bonus + more!
Location: Onsite 5 days a week Oxford/Northampton

The position:

The Digital Workplace Engineer role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting technology solutions that enable modern and collaborative work environments using a range of technologies, in particular, Microsoft products and services. This role is centred around leveraging a suite of productivity tools, cloud services, and security offerings to enhance workplace productivity, communication, and collaboration.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical ownership of our Microsoft ecosystem. This will include troubleshooting issues, optimising performance, and supporting the organisation's business objectives. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, as well as strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Training and Qualifications are on offer to accompany the role with new technologies and expansion of knowledge to enable the role-holder and our team to make the car go faster.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing workplace technology solutions: Digital Workplace Engineers are responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that enhance the productivity and efficiency of the workplace. This may include selecting and configuring hardware, software and cloud tools and services, and integrating systems.
  • Managing and maintaining workplace systems: Digital Workplace Engineers are in charge of managing and maintaining the technology systems within the workplace. This involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, applying updates and patches, and ensuring the overall stability and availability of the systems.
  • User support and training: Digital Workplace Engineers provide technical support to employees, assisting them with any technology-related issues they may encounter. They troubleshoot problems, offer guidance, and ensure that employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively use workplace technology tools.
  • Security and data protection: Digital Workplace Engineers play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the organization's data and infrastructure. This includes setting up access controls, monitoring for security threats, conducting risk assessments, and implementing data backup and recovery strategies.
  • Collaboration and communication tools: Digital Workplace Engineers are responsible for selecting, configuring, and maintaining collaboration and communication tools used within the organization. This may include tools such as email systems, instant messaging platforms, video conferencing software, and project management tools.
  • System integration and automation: Digital Workplace Engineers work on integrating different technology systems and applications to streamline workflows and increase efficiency. They may develop and implement automation solutions to simplify repetitive tasks, improve processes, and enhance employee productivity.
  • Stay updated with technology trends: Digital Workplace Engineers need to stay up to date with the latest technology trends and developments in their field. This involves researching new tools and solutions, attending industry conferences, and continuously learning about emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improvement within the workplace.

Technical requirements:

  • Windows Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of various versions of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10,11 and Windows Server, is essential. This includes system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and deployment techniques.
  • Active Directory (AD): Proficiency in managing and administering Active Directory, including user and group management, domain controllers, Group Policy, and DNS integration.
  • Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365): Experience with Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra. Understanding administration, configuration, and integration with other Microsoft services is important.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager (formerly Intune): Familiarity with Microsoft Endpoint Manager for managing and securing devices, including configuring policies, managing applications, and enforcing compliance.
  • PowerShell: Proficiency in PowerShell Scripting is crucial for automation, system administration tasks, and managing Microsoft technologies effectively. Knowledge of PowerShell modules specific to Microsoft products, such as Exchange Online and Azure, is beneficial.
  • SharePoint: Understanding of SharePoint administration, configuration, and development. Knowledge of SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server is valuable for collaboration and document management.
  • Microsoft Teams: Proficiency in deploying, configuring, and managing Microsoft Teams for unified communications, including voice, video, and instant messaging.
  • Patch Management: Familiarity with patch management of Servers and end user devices, using tools such as SCCM and Endpoint Manager for software deployment, patch management, and system imaging across the organization.
  • Application Packaging and Deployment: Management of application management and version management
  • Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD): Knowledge of deploying and managing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using Windows Virtual Desktop, including creating and managing virtual machines, configuring remote access, and optimizing performance.
  • Security: Proficiency in securing our estate is vital - end-point protection, DLP (Data Loss Prevention), UBA (User Behaviour Analytics) is highly important
