JOB GOALS:To use leadership skils to promote the behavioral development of each student

EXPECTATIONS:

Demonstrates behavioral leadership by:

1. Establishing Code of Conduct

* Content Delivery of Code of Conduct:Inform and train parents, students, and teachers about the details of conduct and its implementation.

* Consistent Implementation:Consistently enforce the standards of conduct with a fair and equal approach to all infractions and individuals. Also, ensure that the teachers consistently follow or enforce the code of conduct standards.

Visibility & Response to Violations:Constantly be visible around the building to observe the implementation and address the infractions.

Documentation:Make sure that proper protocols or procedures are timely followed and documented.

2. Evaluation and Intervention

Data Analysis:Generate proper reports and analyze them accurately to identify the chronic violations and violators.

Plans for Chronic Violations:Develop and successfully implement corrective action plans to address the most chronically violated rules or expectations.

Plans for Chronic Violators:Develop and successfully implement behavior intervention plans to address the most chronically misbehaving students.

Progress Monitoring:Monitor the success of the implemented plans and adjust them when necessary. Document progress.

3. Cooperation, Collaboration, and Communication

*

Cooperation with Supervisor:Works cooperatively with the supervisor to best serve the students and staff.

Support to Teachers:Consistently supports the teachers in a sense of empowerment, feedback, and continuous communication.

Collaboration with Staff:Involves the teachers, school counselors, or other staff to develop and implement action plans.

Parental Communications & Relationships:Accurately, appropriately, and communicates with families in a timely manner. This leads to a positive relationship with the parents and parental involvement in schooling.

4. Professionalism

Support and collaboration:Support and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and parents while demonstrating a professional manner.

Community involvement:Establishes positive and productive relationships with staff and participates in professional communities, school projects, and events.Contributes to positive school culture.

Relationship with Students:Establishes positive relationships with the students and promotes respect among the students and between the students and staff.

Self-Reflection:Accurately reflects on practices and offers specific and applicable actions in the area of need.

Professional Conduct:Adheres to standards for professional conduct and demonstrates honesty, integrity, respect, and dignity.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the school Dean to improve the quality of instruction.

Accurately demonstrate knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.

Manage the classroom in a manner that promotes positive and productive relationships between colleagues, students, parents and community.

Demonstrate a willingness to examine and implement change necessary to produce efficient and effective systems and increase student achievement

Analyze local and state test data for the improvement of curriculum for instruction.

Maintains a school-wide climate and organization for learning (high expectations, cooperation, support, positive attitudes, etc.)

Identifies and communicates effective instructional strategies.

Provide support to intervention committees and recommend supplementary behavioral material when applicable.

Recommend and/or provide in-service training programs for his/her department when needed.

Remain visible throughout the building daily and provide multiple walkthroughs daily.

Review and provide appropriate consequences for behavior noted. This applies to both school and bus referrals. Close out and follow up regarding any referrals within 2 business days.

Communicate frequently with staff regarding students that are noted for behavioral check ins.

Behavior Specialists are part of the Emergency Response Team. They are expected to beone of the first responders in the event that there is an emergency. They are expected to quickly get to students if needed. This can mean running up or down two flights of stairs if the student is on the top or bottom level.

Submit end of year state reporting of discipline.

Support and/or facilitate hearings for both discipline and attendance concerns.

Be a part of the arrival and dismissal team. This includes directing traffic, walking students to and from buses, and setting up breakfast and snack crates.

Circulate and monitor lunch/ recess sessions.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

If asked, the Behavior Specialist shall run in-house professional development for staff.

Behavior Specialist shall attend all in house PD and complete all required training

Behavior Specialist shall attend SANY Summer Institute

Behavior Specialist shall become Level 1 Google Certified by December 31st of the academic year

Behavior Specialist shall attend any PD recommended by the Dean of School.

SCHOOL CLIMATE

Behavior Specialists shall stay positive, act positive and be positive at SANYSchools. Behavior Specialists shall only contribute in a positive way to school. Behavior Specialists shall address any concerns with the administration without hesitation. If any information may come through a student, parent, or a colleague, the Behavior Specialists should not hesitate to clarify the information with the administration.

Behavior Specialists shall follow the proper chain of command for all interpersonal and behavioral interactions.

Behavior Specialists shall exhibit a professional code of conduct at all times in the presence of staff, students, and stakeholders (Refer to SANY Employee Handbook for details).

Behavior Specialists must respond to the staff emails/calls within 24 hours
