CDR Maguire Inc., a national engineering and emergency management firm, is seeking compassionate and dedicated shelter workers to join out team. In this role, you will provide essential support to residents, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment. Shelter locations will be throughout Charlotte County.

All positions are temporary and short term, working 12 hour shifts (night and day).

Key Responsibilities

·       Greet and sign in shelter guests, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to shelter policies.

·       Assign beds to guests based on availability and specific needs.

·       Maintain accurate records of guests and inventory of supplies.

·       Provide information to guests.

·       Collaborate with other shelter staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of the shelter.

·       Uphold the principles of dignity and respect for all shelter guests.  

Requirements

·       High school diploma or equivalent.

·       Previous experience working in a shelter or social services setting is preferred.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings.

·       The ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

·       Ability to deal with high pressure.

·       Flexible schedule to include late afternoon and evening hours and Overtime and weekends as needed to provide support for safety emergencies or incidents that occur after hours or on weekends.

·       Must have a valid active and clear Driver’s license.

·       Demonstrates the technical safety expertise, coaching ability, and passion for the role.

·       Partners and collaborates effectively to create win wins with internal operational partners and external partners.

·       Strong relationship building and influencing skills with the ability to balance education vs. accountability.
