Overview:

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join us. This position can be based out of our offices in Wethersfield, CT; Providence, RI; or Worcester, MA.

Responsibilities

Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects

Support traffic-safety studies, road safety assessments, and transportation planning documentation

Research, collect, tabulate, and interpret traffic and safety data

Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports

Develop preliminary and final design plans

Develop engineer’s construction cost estimates

Contract documents, including specifications

Document and communicate findings from field observations and data collection

Skills and Attributes

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Comfortable working independently as well as on a team

Ability to work in an office or virtual environment

Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed

Strong computer skills

Critical thinking and problem solving

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering 

0-1 year of professional transportation engineering experience

1-3 years of professional transportation engineering experience preferred

Engineer in Training certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months, preferred

MicroStation, AutoCAD / Civil3D, InRoads, HyrdroCAD experience a plus
