Overview:
ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s South Portland, ME office is looking for a temporary Environmental/Energy Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities May Include
Collaborate with VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner
Assist with wetland delineations as part of a 2-person field crew
Assist with mobile data collection for wetland delineations
Assist with plant identification, vegetation inventory and soils analysis
Perform GPS collection using mobile technology and perform data management
Provide permit compliance monitoring including weekly progress reports for utility projects after internal training provided
Assist with water quality monitoring fieldwork and data processing
Perform data entry, research, and analysis
Assist with writing, reporting and permit application preparation
Assist with environmental permitting support
Skills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work in the field which will involve travel and use of personal vehicle, extended hours, overnight stays and may include challenging field and weather conditions
Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with teammates and clients
Self-motivated with attention to detail
Good time management skills
Qualifications
0-2 years of training as an environmental technician
High school diploma or GED
Associate’s degree in environmental science or related field
Valid driver's license
