EMPLOYEE RELATIONS BUSINESS PARTNER

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Employee Relations (ER) Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor, providing guidance and employee relations subject matter expertise to leadership and colleagues in promoting and fostering a fair, positive, collaborative and productive working environment. The ER Business Partner is responsible for the day-to-day employee relations functions for assigned departments within a division, which includes managing and resolving complex employee relations issues and workplace conflicts, including investigations related to violations of company policy and allegations of misconduct.

What you will do

Conduct timely, objective and thorough investigations into HR related concerns raised through the Ethics Offices and other channels.

Develop comprehensive investigation plans to ensure relevant factual information is gathered and collected.

Document all aspects of the investigations including interview summaries, evidence collection, and findings, ensuring all records are detailed, accurate and maintained securely.

Analyze investigation findings to determine the appropriate resolution of all issues in accordance with policies and procedures.

Consult with internal stakeholders (as appropriate), including Ethics Office, Legal, Compliance, Internal Fraud, Security and HR Business Partners to ensure risks are being properly accessed.

Produce comprehensive and clear investigation reports, summarizing allegations, investigative work performed, key findings and conclusions, ensuring conclusions are evidence based.

Utilize case management system and other tools to document findings and evidence.

Analyze aggregate case work data to identify issue trends and opportunities and develop strategies to address systemic issues and mitigate organizational risk.

Provide guidance, counsel and instruction to managers related to performance issues including the administration of corrective action.

Coach and advise colleagues and managers through sensitive HR issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions.

Interpret and explain policies, procedures and regulations related to colleague relations.

Review and provide recommendations on policies and procedures that support the colleague experience.

Foster effective communication and healthy workplace relationships among colleagues and managers.

Analyze ER trends and make suggestions for broad-based training and/or other interventions to prevent future occurrences.

Participate in the development and deployment of ER related training and other team projects as need.

Consistently demonstrate and promote City National Bank’s PRIDE values, with emphasis on building trust and respect.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; understands best practices, anticipates legislation, enforces adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.

Must-Have*

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Five years of human resources experience or three years of employee relations experience

Four years of basic computer experience required (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)

Skills and Knowledge

PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification a plus

Two years of human resources experience in the financial services industry preferred

Demonstrated employee relations skills including conducting and documenting investigations and coaching and counseling colleague and managers

Ability to act objectively while coaching colleagues and management through issues that are complex, difficult, or emotional in nature

Possess highly developed communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills to guide, consult, influence and persuade others

Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues and use judgment that is consistent with the bank’s standards, policies, practices or with regulations and laws

Comfortable working in a high volume, fast paced environment

Demonstrate the skills to effectively deliver findings and recommendations on sensitive cases

High attention to detail related to documentation, process execution and follow up

Ability to independently interact and build relationships with all levels of management

Must be an effective team player and possess strong collaboration skills to manage issues with business partners and peers

Ability to travel to different work locations

CompensationStarting base salary: $87,027 - $138,965 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
