Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager and support from the Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining electrical, plumbing, ventilation, refrigeration and other building systems within the production facility and assessing the facility's resource requirements, designing and optimizing the facility's layout and critical operational systems, and overseeing the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Read, understand, manage electrical/mechanical drawings of all systems
Ensure facility is compliant with local Electrical Safety Code, OHSA and NFPA
Develop strong knowledge of regulations, building code requirements
Become an “expert” on new facilities equipment coming into the plant. This includes facility equipment such as HVAC units, air compressor, fire/safety systems, building power, storage tanks, water/sewer systems, and etc.
Identify opportunities for improvement for facility processes and equipment
Manage plant recycling programs
Conduct analysis and propose improvements for facilities services
Responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical and related systems
Develop and implement utilities plans
Recommend and manage all outsourced services for facility
Coordinate and overseeing outsourced contractors
Work with Maintenance leadership to schedule maintenance colleagues on facility projects/issues; afterward, inspecting work for completeness and compliance
Determine material, equipment and supplies required to maintain systems
Ensure completion of Preventative Maintenance Program for facilities
Support implementation of engineering changes, new product planning, trials and launch
Develop and manage projects as required including costs and budgets
Prepare and maintain all pertinent documentation as required
Communicate with Suppliers as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
What we are looking for:
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, equivalent degree or equivalent years of experience
Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing facility (i.e., asset management)
Project management skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Experience in AutoCad, ERP system (SAP preferred) and MS Office
Strong interpersonal, time management and conflict resolution skills
Good verbal and written communications
Travel as needed

Knowledge and/or experience in applying lean principles
