Midwest Eye Center is seeking a patient-focused Ophthalmic or Optometric Technician for our Calumet City, Illinois office. This role offers regular hours, no nights or major holidays, a comprehensive benefits package, and a collaborative work environment with clear career advancement opportunities.

Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.
Responsibilities:
Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems
Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained
Assists with patient education.
Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room or office and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of previous experience as an optometric technician or ophthalmic technicians is required for consideration
Strong organization with attention to detail
Must have the ability to establish confidence and trust with patients
Must have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate excellent communication, telephone and grammar skills
Must have an empathetic and compassionate manner
Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently
Demonstrated computer literacy
