Overview:
As a Network Engineer at Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU), you will be responsible for installations, administration, monitoring, and maintaining company networks and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications as well as ensure the availability of the local and wide area (LAN/WAN) networking infrastructure and manages the network environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the unified communications across the enterprise, comprised of telephone VOIP, instant messaging, and contact center platforms. This includes ensuring the availability of networking infrastructure, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the network environment
Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for networking systems
Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate networks to meet business demands
Coordinate and participate in the design Virtual Private Network infrastructure to support vendor interconnection requirements in a secure manner
Assist with research on network hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts
Assist with Interaction with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
Support the deployment of workstations, network devices, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systems
Administer all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and UPS
Assist and administer and maintain telephone equipment, protocols and routing queues necessary to meet business needs
Perform network, server and security audits, review logs for errors and trends, and ensure proper function of network infrastructure
Recommend and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
Ensure network connectivity of all workstations
Support organizational initiatives and goals by participating on project teams and delivering on network related requirements
Monitor help desk database for entries on networking resource issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate
Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications:
Associates degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical related field or equivalent experience; Bachelors’ degree preferred
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a network administrator supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Route Switch/Enterprise, or CCNA with equivalent work experience
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration/Voice and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security
Ability to review and analyze or interpret data and documentation and to make decisions regarding subsequent actions
Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
