Dining Service Assistant-Flex

Responsibilities:

To facilitate the service of meals to residents and ensure adequate dining satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Delivers, serves and retrieves prepared food accurately and in a timely manner, following department procedures.  Makes corrections/substitutions as needed.  Cleans and sanitizes all assigned areas properly, including pantry, dining tables and chairs.

Assures that all menu items and serving utensils needed for meal service are available and adequate prior to start of  service.  Communicates any shortages or problems to Executive Chef or designee promptly

Assures that all food items are portioned properly and appropriate temperatures are maintained and logged prior to each meal.  Reports any problems to the Executive Chef or designee.

Follows all food handling regulations, to include proper wrapping, labeling, dating, and storage of food.

Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and sanitary manner, to include picking up, scraping, and washing soiled dishes, replenishing clean dishes, and glassware.  Cleans refrigerator, food delivery equipment, coffee and juice makers, etc. properly according to assigned schedule.

Completes necessary pre-preparation or stocking of food items or supplies for future meals.

Consistently uses correct sanitation procedures and equipment, to include proper handwashing, wearing hair net, and using plastic gloves.  Calibrates all thermometers as required.

Assists nursing staff to ensure that all food handling and nutritional requirements and procedures are adhered to.  Orients  new employees to the dining process and assists with on-the-job training.
