Overview:
POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs a variety of general office duties to support the activities of a high school office including
receiving telephone calls, responding to requests for information, preparing documents and performing
related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
▪ Considerable knowledge of general office procedures and processes;
▪ Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
▪ Excellent customer service skills with the ability to calmly route concerns to appropriate staff;
ability to deal with conflicts in a positive manner, ensuring personal impact is minimized;
▪ Effective time management skills;
▪ Ability to work in a team environment;
▪ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of
communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative
efforts, and feedback;
▪ Ability to work in fast paced environment;
▪ Ability to maintain confidentiality;
▪ Ability to assist students with medication and health needs, as needed;
▪ Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with diverse groups
of school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
▪ High school diploma or equivalent; AND
▪ Two years of experience performing clerical work.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Five years of experience performing clerical work;
▪ Clerical experience within a school district or similar environment;
▪ Bilingual English and Spanish (fluent verbal and written) skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs a variety of general office duties to support the activities of a high school office

and assisting the Principal and administrative team with maintaining records (student records,
personnel records, meeting notes, forms, reports, etc.)
2. Administers medication to students according to policies and procedures; maintains and organizes
health room, including ordering health supplies and providing first aid treatment to students, as
needed.
3. Supervises and responds to the needs of students while in the front office and makes contact with
parents and guardians, as needed.
4. Assists school faculty and staff with requests, paperwork, and correspondence; submits work
orders for repairs and maintenance requests, as directed by the Principal.
5. May serve as a backup for front desk coverage, as needed.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able
to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
up to ten pounds. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are
consistent with those for sedentary work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in a school or office environment and come into direct contact with school system
staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community.
