Job Details:

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the nurse in providing care to the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients during the perioperative phase of their hospitalization.

Assists the professional staff in the ASU to facilitate surgical cases by maintaining supplies and equipment including carts, scopes and video monitors used by Nurses and Anesthesiologists.

Coordinates all necessary services for repairs with ANCC

Assists the nursing personnel with surgical instrumentation and the disinfection and sterilization of equipment and instruments

Performs surgical case picks for same day and following day cases

Assists in preparing the surgical patient in the Holding Room and care of the post-operative patient in the PACU.

Qualifications: 

High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Previous hospital experience required.  

Previous OR experience preferred. 

Must be physically able to lift and transfer patients/equipment, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and record and report information. 

Responsible for overseeing the scheduling and daily assignments of the POSA.  

Will participate in performing annual performance appraisals of perioperative assistants and in the education of new perioperative assistants.

BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:

American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program

American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

No online programs from any organization will be accepted.

Posted Salary Range:

USD $25.14 - USD $30.50 /Hr.

The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
