Lead/Senior RPG Developer

Scope of Responsibility

The RPG Lead/Senior Developer will be responsible to exemplify best practices developing and implementing efficient technical solutions; adhering to and promoting all established departmental standards and development methodologies. The RPG Lead/Senior Developer will continuously develop and utilize expert-level technical expertise in IBMi-based programming languages. Role responsibilities include thorough and documented analysis, design, development, and testing for new and modified programming projects while delivering assignments within predefined timeframes. The RPG Lead/Senior Developer must be innovative and creative in solving complex problems, leading project teams and work in an environment where requirements may continually evolve. The RPG Lead/Senior Developer will have the ability to think critically and analytically, manage multiple task and prioritize to meet organizational commitments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional requirements to determine technical design; creating technical specifications for larger scale projects. Provide level of effort assessments

  • Address production support issues; identifying and resolving at root cause level

  • Responsible for the adherence to change controls and change management protocols

  • Incorporates performance and auditing considerations in delivered applications and development

  • Deliver updates to IT management team on the RPG Lead/Senior Developer's projects

  • Manages work and assists team members to meet specified due dates for tasks and projects to deliver on time and on budget

  • Ensure that all corporate and IT governance policies and procedures are adhered to

  • Identify and suggest new and evolving technologies and provide management with insight and recommendations/improvements to current systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years application development experience in a health care environment with recent and advanced experience with RPG(ILE/FREE) using Procedures, Service Programs, and Functions.

  • Minimum 5 years experience with Embedded and Interactive SQL. Experience in creating and utilizing views in development practices.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in advanced DB2 database design, utilizing techniques such as referential integrity, and normalization.

  • Minimum 5 years of team leadership

  • Change management experience and familiarity with a change management tool such as Turnover.

  • Experience exposing and consuming web services, JSON, REST APIs a plus

  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills with attention to detail

  • Efficient in organizational and time management skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to convey technical concepts in a non-technical manner

  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities with aggressive timelines

  • Available for off hours support
