The VNA is seeking a Nurse Educator for our Hospice division to provide clinical expertise and serve as a role model and consultant to Hospice Staff in the area of clinical skills. This position will function as a collaborative partner to foster the delivery of high quality patient care by promoting staff professional growth, and supporting the development of staff. This position provides regulatory and clinical training activities and establishes an on-boarding infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, deliver or coordinate, and evaluate educational programs to assure that staff demonstrates excellent clinical performance, professional development, and knowledge about hospice care to assure compliance with all legal, regulatory and agency-specific requirements.
Teaches educational content as needed or assigned to facilitate orientation, staff development and safe practice
Collaborate with service line managers to coordinate orientation, staff development and mentoring of clinical staff.
Responsible to ensure a smooth transition of new associates throughout the orientation period by coordinating and administering the clinical orientation track.
Educates clinical associates regarding EMR documentation during the orientation period and ongoing.
Conduct onsite visits and shared visits to assess knowledge and compliance with the documentation process.
Direct and coordinate mandatory educational activities in collaboration with Quality Safety and Compliance.
Mentor and assist clinical staff with individual learning needs
Communicates with appropriate clinical managers regarding staff progress and any human resource or performance counseling issues.
Develop and evaluate educational programs, materials and resources for staff (e.g. performs literature searches or other methods of inquiry) to provide the most current data for evidence-based practice
Conducts annual educational needs assessment through surveys, review of risk data, and with attention to changes in Joint Commission and regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with Information Management for training of clinical staff on the electronic record system
Maintains current knowledge of clinical best practices, federal/state guidelines, and Joint Commission and VNA policies/procedures. Updates clinical associate education materials to reflect the newest and best practices.
Demonstrates proficiency with MS Office, VNA approved hardware/software, computer and audiovisual equipment used in presentations.
Qualifications:
Current RN license in the State of Florida
Minimum of 3 years experience as an RN; with at least two years in hospice
Prior experience in clinical education is highly desired
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to hospice care
Knowledgeable in electronic record systems
