Responsibilities:

Provides safe and knowledgeable intervention in crisis situations under the supervision of the RN, to ensure safe and consistent quality of care.

Takes initiative to identify and intervene in crisis situations using appropriate de-escalation and/or other modes of crisis management according to the Behavior Management Policy.

Able to assess the environment, target potential crisis situations, and intervene in a calm, safe, supportive manner.

Responds to all emergencies as trained and directed (First Aid, Code Blue, Code Red and Code Triage).

Assists with unit secretary and mental health technician duties as directed.

Participates in the orientation of new staff.

Teaches Handle With Care and de-escalation techniques to staff, under the supervision of the CIS Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent 

 3 years experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting required

Skills/Licenses Preferred:

Drivers License

AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 90 days of hire

First Aid Program

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/ university in social work, psychology, nursing or related field
