OVERVIEW:

Merrick & Company is seeking a high school, technical school or community college Drafting and Design student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2025 in our Aiken, South Carolina office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2025. 

We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity from approximately September – November 2024. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received. Interviews will take place in the Fall/Winter. Offers will be extended in Winter/Spring. Timeframe subject to change.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Merrick Intern Program will provide an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of mechanical equipment design. The intern will be exposed to a variety of mechanical design items potentially including detailed machine design, 3D modeling in CREO (Pro/Engineer) and creation of drawings in CREO (Pro/Engineer). Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels. 

The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, the ability to work independently and the ability to problem solve. Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be currently enrolled in a high school CAD program; or pursuing an Associate Degree or Technical College Certification in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).

Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with solid modeling software like CREO/ProE, Solidworks, Revit, CADworx or other 3D modeling packages.

Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, and/or Windchill.

Local candidates preferred.
