Overview:
Responsible for handling, preparation and distribution of linen, as well as, managing the linen ordering and tracking. Based on hospital location, not all of the following duties may apply.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately sorts, inspects, counts, records and places linen on shelf, closet or exchange cart to deliver to designated areas daily.
Safely transports clean linen to areas, paying attention to corridor mirrors and corners, ensuring doors to areas are closed and secured.
Verifies quantities of linen remaining on the carts/closets by counting and documenting on Par level sheet, ensuring accuracy for departmental charging.
Fill alEx/ScrubX machines when needed.
Order linen on-line/fax to request linen quantities for the next day, including specialty items.
Manages clean laundry orders from departments which include communicating when quantities need to be increased or decreased.
Report lost items and specialty items going to laundry service.
Collects soiled linen from various areas and place in soiled linen holding room.
Adheres to infection control practices at all times, which include wearing gloves when picking up soiled linen using other personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
Order supplies as needed.
Use correct hand washing procedures.
Clean linen carts, courier boxes, equipment and linen room.
