Job Description
As the Sustainable Products Engineer, you will drive growth through the optimization and innovative development of Hi-Cone’s sustainable portfolio of beverage packaging systems to maintain our best-in-class operational performance and total LCA. Your passion for innovation will help define and implement platform refresh strategies based on “80” customer feedback and turn Customer Back Innovation (CBI) learnings into actionable projects for the development and release of next-gen systems. You will be responsible for leading the evaluation and development of new materials and product lines to define the future of sustainable packaging from concept to full-scale production. This is a perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise in all phases of the design process – brainstorming, conception, design, detailing, validation, in-field testing, and manufacturing launch while interacting with stakeholders across all functional areas of the organization.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000 annually. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this salary range is for successful candidates in the Chicago, Illinois metro area. The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Demonstrate exceptional project management while coordinating multiple concurrent projects
Create innovative product designs to meet customer, manufacturing, and industry needs
Apply mechanical design skills, using 3D CAD modeling, to develop innovative packaging systems.
Perform system evaluation to ensure form, fit, and function and compliance with customer and government standards.
Develop technical specifications and prepare documentation that adequately defines the project for manufacturing.
Resolve commercial design issues causing quality or customer efficiency problems with material or equipment changes as appropriate.
Coordinate the review, presentation and release of design layouts, drawings, analysis, and other documentation.
Interact with external and internal customers to understand pain points and identify potential innovations.
