Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Child with Autism - Year 5)
Location: Islington, London
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for permanent)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Sanza Teaching Agency is recruiting on behalf of a vibrant, diverse, and friendly primary school in Islington, seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism, helping them access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom environment.
Implement the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and tailor your approach to meet their specific learning needs.
Support the child with social, emotional, and behavioural development, using strategies to foster positive engagement.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor the child's progress and adapt strategies as needed.
Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment to encourage independence and confidence in the pupil.
Engage with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the child's well-being and holistic development.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working 1:1 with children with Autism or similar SEND needs.
Be patient, empathetic, and understanding of the challenges faced by children with Autism.
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and specialists.
Be proactive in using strategies and interventions to manage behaviour and support the child's social and emotional needs.
Ideally hold a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, though unqualified candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
