Overview:

Intelligent Waves is growing rapidly and has an outstanding new opportunity for a Strategic Communications Specialist to work on an important technical program for a major DoD organization headquartered in Reston, VA.  This contract was awarded recently and is expanding rapidly over the next few months.

Travel: None

Remote Schedule: Will work as part of an overall team to provide needed coverage and support with remote work capability according to mission schedules.  

Security Clearance: Must be a United States Citizen and hold a current TS/SCI security clearance. 

Employees are required to follow all company and customer site COVID-19 protocols.

Responsibilities:

As a Strategic Communications Specialist on our team, you’ll design, develop, produce, and consult on internal and external communication materials and media that support national defense and security priorities. Shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to establish and maintain existing client mission partnerships, document internal best practices for communications, and foster a collaborative environment through information sharing and transparency. Advise on all aspects of Strategic Communications and coordinate and develop newsletter and website content, briefings, talking points, executive summaries, and marketing materials. Work with subject matter experts to coordinate and facilitate user and stakeholder engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop Strategic Communications: Lead the design and production of communication materials, including executive summaries, press releases, briefings, presentations, and digital content, ensuring consistency in messaging that aligns with national defense priorities.

Content Creation and Management: Drive the development of newsletters, website content, and other informational assets that communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and clients, serving as a trusted communications advisor. You will facilitate collaboration and maintain a flow of information that ensures alignment across various initiatives.

Advise on Communications Strategy: Provide expert counsel on the best practices and strategic direction for internal and external communications, ensuring efforts are streamlined to support organizational goals. Document and share internal best practices to promote knowledge sharing and improve processes.

Executive Support and Briefings: Work closely with senior leaders to develop talking points, reports, and communication plans that support high-level briefings and engagements. Tailor messaging for leadership to present to both military and civilian audiences.

Coordinate User and Stakeholder Engagements: Partner with subject matter experts to plan and execute engagements that facilitate knowledge transfer, stakeholder feedback, and collaboration between cross-functional teams.

Foster Transparency: Establish a culture of information sharing by documenting and promoting internal best practices, ensuring communication initiatives are transparent and easily accessible to relevant parties.

Qualifications:

Required:

5+ years of experience with Strategic Communications, with 3+ years in a client-facing role

Experience with the DoD community

Excellent analysis and data gathering skills

Experience with the complete Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint

Active TS/SCI Security Clearance 

Desired:

3+ year of experience in working directly with senior leaders

Experience working in a technology or IT field

Experience with JIRA or Content Management Systems
