Overview:

We are seeking a full-time Technical Lead Product Support Engineer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for being a key technical contributor driving improvements in factory yield, product failure analysis, product sustainability and quality.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Perform highly complex circuit redesign, PCB layout and implementation of changes for production products or new derivative products that require multiple PCB changes

Perform data analysis of automated product testing and proactively identify/implement solutions to improve and eliminate intermittent or otherwise challenging test failures

Perform deep analysis of sustainment/field quality/factory quality issues and be able to identify and implement robust solutions/processes/guidance that result in quality/reliability/manufacturability improvements across multiple products

Work efficiently across a multi-disciplinary team including design engineering, quality engineering, reliability engineering, and manufacturing teams to deliver optimized solutions

May be Project Engineer for an existing product redesign effort with highly complex changes

Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced product support engineers (Product

Support Engineers 1 & 2 and Senior Product Support Engineer)

Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin’s product life cycle, including operations and product support

Offer process improvement suggestions and author new procedures as appropriate

Define General approaches and specific solutions to technical problems considered state of the art

Apply extensive technical expertise and analysis to all assigned projects

Complete broadly defined complex tasks including taking conceptual ideas and putting them to practice

Regularly demonstrate creativity and ingenuity to develop reliable solutions to complex problems

Exemplify Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively work to improve Garmin’s image and culture

Participate in recruiting activities as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

Demonstrates ability to review and redesign complex analog, digital, and/or RF circuit designs including simulations, schematics, PCB layout and evaluation

Must possess the ability to redesign system architectures consisting of one or more PCB’s

Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Previous work experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products
