What you'll do:

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Shipping Specialist to join our dynamic team in Tempe, AZ!

As a Shipping Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire materials handling process. This includes ensuring that materials are received from the correct suppliers, stored properly in inventory, and packaged according to specifications for timely shipment. You will also verify that purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received is accurate.

You will ensure the security and accountability of all materials and finished goods. Your role also includes ensuring that materials are readily available to support production schedules and that products are shipped as planned by the marketing team. You will establish and adjust operational procedures to optimize efficiency, and maintain detailed documentation to track the department's performance.

The day-to-day:

Preparing shipments with urgency to ensure timely delivery.

Organizing inventory, packing items carefully, labeling containers accurately, and scheduling shipments efficiently.

Tracking shipments closely, providing timely updates and ensures they are shipped correctly and on time.

Receiving shipments, unloading trucks and deliveries, sorting and stocking receivables, and documenting any inventory damages.

Maintaining records and keeping an accurate log sheet of daily moves and preserving all relevant data.

Collaborating with others such as logistics technicians, customer service representatives, vendors, and drivers.

What you'll need:

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. 

5+ years of experience in a similar role. 

Prior working experience driving a forklift. 

Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, is crucial.

Excellent organizational skills are a must-have.

Strong problem solving and communication skills

Attention to detail is vital for accuracy.

Multitasking skills are essential for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Problem-solving skills are necessary for addressing challenges optimally.

Valid CA Driver’s License

U.S. Citizenship is required. 

This position includes operation of a company vehicle and will require a valid driver’s license and compliance with the Viasat Vehicle Driver Policy.  A detailed Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) assessment will be required as part of Viasat’s pre-employment screening.

Prior knowleadge of Oracle ERP.

Experience using the Oracle Inventory and Manufacturing modules.

Experience with UPS and FedEx software to schedule shipments.

Working knowledge of relevant electronic equipment and components.

Proficient in the container and fladbed loading and unloading.

Experience working with Government and Commercial contract requirements is a plus. 

Salary range:

$19.86 - $33.22 / hourly
