At this time, we are seeking a water resources engineering intern (or similar) in our Virginia Beach, VA office for the summer semester (May/June-August). This internship will be a full-time position working 40 hours a week. The water resources engineering Intern will work alongside the Woolpert water market working on planning, design, and construction projects for various municipalities and partner consultants.

Responsibilities:

• Design and create Wastewater, Stormwater, and Water plans in alignment with client requirements and Woolpert standards.

• Work with project management team to identify impediments and develop/implement solutions to overcome obstacles.

• Perform field assessments and compile data and reports.

• Gain real-world experience working on actual projects alongside licensed professionals that are experts in their fields.

• Assist on a variety of projects doing such things as calculations, data analysis, drawings/renderings, cost estimates, and preparing design plans.

• Work on software and systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office products, and Bluebeam Revu.

• Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.

• Go on multiple site visits and see construction projects we work on.

• Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.

• Duties include occasional field work.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.

• Pursuing BS in civil engineering, biosystems engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.

• Experience in ArcGIS.

• Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D preferred.

• Working knowledge in hydrology and stormwater management.

• Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow, and complete tasks.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to function well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
