Position Overview:

International is developing leading-edge commercial vehicle solutions to meet the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – customers. At the Advanced Technical Center in Elmendorf, TX, the Product Validation department performs testing of International’s future diesel and electric trucks and school buses.

The Electrical Systems and Components Test team performs validation of the electrical and electronic systems of commercial trucks and school buses. In this area, International has need of an Electrical Component Test Engineer to prepare test procedures and execute testing of the components that the electrical systems comprise of. This testing will encompass electrical transient testing, computer software, serial communication, wiring, and data analysisand is performed on components that go into International’s diesel vehicles, electric vehicles, and vehicles with autonomous driver assist systems. You will provide technical and analytical support to Product Development Engineering to assess whether new designs meet customers’ needs as stated through design requirements. 

Responsibilities:

Test Preparation:

Review component design requirements and draft test procedures accordingly

Assess and procure assets needed for successful test execution including (but not limited to): software, instrumentation, fixturing, and data acquisition devices

Provide feedback to design responsible engineer should there be any ambiguous or incomplete information in their design requirements

Assist other engineers with their test preparation

 Test Execution:

Execute testing per schedule aligned with program milestones

Consistent communication with team lead and requestor

Perform root cause analysis for failures seen during testing

Assist other engineers performing their testing

 Validation Test Reporting:

Report any test failures or anomalies found during Validation testing

Write formal test reports

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

OR

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and will obtain degree prior to first day of employment

Additional Requirements:

Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills:

• Understanding of SAE J1939 Control Area Network (CAN)

• Understanding of data acquisition and measurement equipment

• Use of National Instruments LabVIEW

• Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams

• Effective communication skills
