Overview:

Location: The Right Place Early Learning Center (Sigourney Street, Hartford, CT)

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Full-time

Hours Per Week: 40                                                                                                

Scope & Purpose of Position: Develop and implement the curriculum goals and standards for the classroom and provide mentorship to any additional teachers in the designated classroom. Accountable for the overall classroom quality.

Responsibilities:

Assist teaching staff and families in implementing identified strategies for individualized

Assist teaching staff in the provision of individualized programming and differentiated instruction.

Assist with family meetings regarding Intervention Services.

Create a positive and encouraging diversity climate for ideas, questions, and learning.

Ensure all children receive enriching educational programming focusing on positive experiences and child outcomes.

Frequently assess, informally and formally, all aspects of educational programming, including but not limited to classroom environment and management; curricular planning, implementation, and assessment; individualization; family-centered practices; and educational resource provisions.

Ensure implementation and maintenance of intervention protocols within the classrooms.

Focus on and understand the creation and orientation of children to an appropriate learning environment, which includes preparing the room; greeting children; engaging children in cooperative learning; and addressing the learners’ social, emotional, and comfort needs.

Know, articulate, and remain current on best practices in professional development, early childhood education, etc.

Lead and implement classroom instruction within an assigned classroom.

Oversee classroom transition processes for all enrolled children and families, including transition into the classroom upon enrollment, transition to and from different classrooms within the program, and transition out of the program for exiting children and families.

Oversee the educational environment and programming.

Oversees the Program's “response to intervention,” ensuring successful outcomes for all children and families who experience our programs.

Promote the importance of a positive behavior support system within the center and the classrooms.

Provide necessary child and curricular assessment documents and resources.

Provide necessary curriculum documents and resources.

Review, provide feedback, and assess classroom and other educational environments.

Review, provide feedback, and assist teaching staff in reflecting on curricular, environmental, and child assessments (formal and informal).

Review, provide feedback, and observe planned experiences for the children.

Support the development of classroom daily schedules.

Understand and be mindful of how personal appearances, dress, body language use, and tone of voice impact the presentation, the environment, and how staff, children, and families engage.

Work with program teaching staff and administration to ensure adequate supplies, equipment, and resources are available.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with at least two years of experience, preferably in a Reggio Emilia Inspired Program.

At least three years of teaching experience in an early childhood education setting.

Experience in working with diverse cultures.

Knowledge of State Department of Education educational standards and best practices.

Must complete KeepSAfe and all other training requirements upon hire.
