We are looking for an exceptional Director of Safety to manage safety initiatives and ensure compliance with industry regulations at our flatbed trucking company, Nova Lines. The ideal candidate should have relevant safety certifications, preferably experience in flatbed securement, and strong leadership skills to lead a team of eight. Responsibilities include managing insurance matters, DOT audits, and enhancing safety programs while fostering a growth mindset and seeking continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Lead a team of safety professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a proactive safety culture.

Manage insurance-related activities, including renewals, claims, and coordination with insurance providers.

Conduct DOT audits and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.

Investigate and analyze incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to implement safety-related initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Stay updated on industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices to ensure the company's safety programs remain current and effective.

Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels, promoting safety awareness and ensuring proper understanding of policies and procedures.

Monitor and analyze safety metrics, preparing reports and providing recommendations for improving safety performance.

Oversee driver qualification processes, including background checks, drug testing, and driver training.

Foster strong connections and communication with the international team, adapting to cultural differences and ensuring consistent safety standards.

Requirements

Willingness to work full-time at our new Bridgeview, IL terminal

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.

Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Certified Director of Safety, Certified Safety Professional) preferred.

Experience in the trucking industry, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Knowledge of flatbed securement practices preferred.

Familiarity with insurance processes, including renewals and claims management.

Proven experience managing DOT audits and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong operations knowledge and a growth mindset, seeking opportunities for improvement and operational excellence.
