Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for analyzing, designing, maintaining, improving, and releasing world class machinery. In collaboration with other team members, the Mechanical Engineer will implement our equipment, design standards, and related improvement projects in line with customer requirements and the ITW 80/20 philosophy. Our search is for a Mechanical Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in engineering design.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create and maintain accurate multi-level Bills of Material (BOM) and enter them into the ERP system.

Complete product configuration and data entry to drive demand for production.

Perform the design, analysis, and/or evaluation of advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Prepare clear, complete, detailed, and accurate designs. Use Creo for detailed drawings.

Manage change control of components and bills of materials.

Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to develop solutions for meeting cost targets for projects.

Conduct engineering studies and partner with operations, field services, and customers to diagnose and resolve issues. Apply root cause analysis and perform cost-benefit analysis for various solutions. Design for reliability.

Apply the ITW 80/20 business processes, draw conclusions using critical information from available data, and lead projects.

Travel (10%) to suppliers and customer facilities.

Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Successful Product Development: Develop a history of successful product releases following a stage gate process, with an emphasis on productivity, quality, reliability, and safety. 

Decision Making: Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; problem solving skills using proven techniques.
