As the Senior Manager,Royalty Accounting will be responsible for managing the full royalty accounting process including royalty accrual and reconciliations.In addition, this position will work closely with the VP of Accounting to help in planning and managing the activities of the Accounting Department with respect to royalty accounting, maintaining adequate internal controls, compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements and accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
What you'll do:
Month end close process including calculating and recording royalty accruals
Liaison between Royalty department and Finance to ensure proper Mechanical, Artist, JV, and P&D accruals and true up adjustments
Maintain monthly balance sheet roll forward schedules
Research and resolve identified issues
Supervise and train royalty accounting team to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner
Communicate results to clients and answer any inquiries, while maintaining an ongoing professional relationship
Produce royalty ad hoc reports
Assist in establishing short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
Assist VP of Accounting in designing, establishing and maintaining an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department goals and objectives
Build relationships and partnerships across departments to thoroughly understand how all the pieces fit together, how information is used and can be used by various functions within the business
Other general accounting tasks as needed
Qualifications:
What you’ll need:
Undergraduate and/or graduate degree specializing in Accounting and/or Finance with 5+ years relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of royalty accounting
Excellent general ledger accounting, reconciliation and analytical skill
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Outstanding communication and organization skills
Well-developed presentation skills
Able to handle multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously
Prior entertainment experience preferred.
