Database Engineer - Defence

Location: Stevenage

Salary: To £60K + bonus and blue chip benefits

Clearance: SC Cleared to start and will be put through DV Clearance

A global IT consultancy are looking for a Database Engineer to join their team and play a crucial role in managing and optimizing their DB2 databases.

The Role:

• Administer and continuously monitor DB2 databases.
• Optimize database performance to ensure minimal downtime.
• Implement and manage database policies and procedures to secure database integrity and availability.
• Manage database backups and disaster recovery procedures using Cohesity.
• Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Contribute to the design and deployment of database storage structures, backup systems, and security frameworks in line with IT security policies.

Technical Skills and Experience:

• Profound understanding of DB2 database management technologies.
• Proficient with VMware and virtualization environments.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and database task management.
• Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with DB VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups.
