Summary of Role

You will work within the Main contracts sales and estimating team alongside the Sales/Proposals manager. You will contribute to the estimating of new large projects in London including office/commercial developments, infrastructure and data centres.

Over the course of your apprenticeship you will work with various members of the team being shown how to develop technical solutions for our customers, how to develop tender estimates and how to generate tender submissions. You will also witness 1st hand the enquiry to order process.

We will train and develop you to undertake the following:

* Review and respond to enquiries sent allocated to you including updating our CRM system Goldvision.

* Review and develop technical specifications and begin developing the proposal based on customer deadlines.

* Review customer specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and other project documentation to produce an accurate quotation.

* Liaise with the design engineers, project management team and leadership to gain technical input into the quotation.

* Analyse level of risk associated with financial, technical elements of the project.

* Produce and submit quotations to customers/clients.

* Progress submitted quotations to obtain client feedback & prepare win/loss key performance indicators and lessons learnt.

* Professionally interact with our customers either through email, telephone or site visits to further client satisfaction & increase sales opportunities.

What will our training ultimately deliver to you

* Technical experience in sprinkler design with a good understanding of reading construction drawings and understanding technical specifications

* Experience of developing technical sprinkler quotations/bids

* Understanding of construction programs/building regulations/industry standards/legislation

* Experience of developing positive customer relationships

* Commercial awareness with demonstrable numerical skills

What we will need from you

* A genuine interest in the Sprinkler/Fire Protection industry (essential).

* Any previous experience with the Sprinkler/Fire Protection/Construction/Building Services industry would be an advantage.

* A natural appetite for sales/estimating and willingness to develop yourself into a highly competent estimator with a desire to win (essential)

* You will be able to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and efficiency (essential)

* Proven IT skills with experience of MS office packages (essential). If you have previous experience of using Autocad or Autocad view products this would be an advantage.

* Ability to work independently and autonomously as well as an effective team player in a close knit and highly successful team (essential).

* Positive interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships. Previous experience of working with customers would be an advantage.

* Naturally comfortable with working with numbers and data (essential).

* Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities (essential).

About the apprenticeship

You will study towards a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship over a period of 18 months. This will be delivered via online learning from a national apprenticeship provider.

When not studying, you will work alongside our experienced and professional team delivering a real role job as a Sprinkler Sales Estimator. You will need to manage your time and commitments well to ensure that you are able to complete your assignments whilst delivering a highly valued role.

The Training Plan

You will have a structured development pathway which will include within the first 3 months rotations within Hall & Kay to learn about the organisation and various teams. You will observe and take notes at meetings giving you a good understanding of the projects we deliver.

Between 3 & 9 months we will develop your learning of the industry standards relating to Sprinklers providing you with the technical knowledge to understand Sprinkler design. You will attend internal and external meetings and learn how to carry out handover contracts.

Between 9 & 12 months you will attend meetings to discuss project specific costings, issues and closing the deal with Clients (alongside your knowledgeable colleagues). You will then be able to deal with some basic technical queries and develop value engineering options for clients to aid winning future projects.

After 12 months you will continue your development learning about the in house administration systems and researching enquiries as they are received. You will receive some industry specific training for BSEN 12845 and LPCB Design Training (Basic/Intermediate/Advanced).

What you can expect in return

* Salary £18,000 per annum

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and option to buy 5 days and sell 2 days, Contributory company pension scheme, Life Assurance

* 36.5 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8.45 – 16.40, Friday 8.45 – 4pm). Training & Development! The fire industry is a niche engineering industry where your skills will be in demand. We will offer you the opportunity to train as a Sales Estimator where you can expect to achieve a very competitive salary once fully trained and experienced.
