Brooks Utility Products is seeking a highly motivated self-sufficient Staff Engineer to lead new product development projects, support product line simplification efforts, and be a critical technical member to help secure new business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Independently lead “engineered product” design and development activities from concept through commercialization with effective collaboration with marketing, supply chain, sales, and customer channels.

Evaluate, develop, and implement electromechanical solutions quickly under compressed timelines.

Manage multiple engineering projects in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision, working within cross-functional teams including sales, supply chain, production, quality, and finance functions.

Design products to be in conformance with all necessary agency standards (UL, IEEE, NEMA, etc.).

Produce all required engineering documentation including detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials, and performance specifications for Brooks’ product portfolio.

Redesign products for improved function, cost reductions, 80/20 portfolio simplification, and customer-driven requirements.

Actively engage with and support production and quality teams during product launch to ensure high-quality product shipments.

Assist in tooling and manufacturing process choices. Disposition first article inspection reports, as needed.

Provide sustaining engineering direction and support for existing products.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline – BSME / BSEE preferred.

Strong project management skills in handling multiple simultaneous projects.

Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Solid Works.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques including compression mold fabrication, CNC machining, sheet metal forming, plastic injection molding, and welding.

Knowledge of third-party testing and certification a plus (UL, IEEE, NEMA, etc.).

A self-starter capable of independently handling all required engineering tasks with limited supervision.

Mechanically inclined / savvy with strong hands-on problem-solving skills.

Strong written & verbal communication skills.
