Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 and small groups)
Location: Fareham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Pay rate: £90-110 per day/ £1,800-£2,750 per month.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support at a SEN School in Fareham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs, particularly those with communication difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to pupils, helping them to engage with the curriculum and their peers
• Use communication aids and alternative methods to facilitate learning and interaction (if required)
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement the child’s individual education plan (IEP)
• Support the child's social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing environment
• Assist with sensory needs, daily routines, and personal care if required
• Monitor and report on the child's progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs
• Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child to foster confidence and independence

• Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly non-verbal or communication needs
• Patience, empathy, and a caring approach to working with young children
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both with the child and wider team
• A proactive attitude and flexibility to adapt to the child’s individual needs
• A commitment to promoting inclusion and the wellbeing of the child.
