The New York office is looking for a Project Assistant to provide general support to Attorneys. The ideal candidate will have demonstratable experience of learning new things quickly and have a high level of attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Learn about and conduct cite checking of legal documents
Perform electronic court filings in all courts or manually file in person when necessary
Create, organize, and manage file folders and file tracking systems for case materials
Update and maintain correspondence, pleadings, and discovery documents for quick reference and retrieval
Maintain and organize deposition transcripts and exhibits and create index tables for quick reference and retrieval
Perform queries and print results utilizing in-house litigation support databases such as Relativity
Organize document sets into a specific order (i.e., chronological, by issue, by witness, bates number order, etc.)
Quality check copies and print sets
Deliver or pick up case-related materials from various locations
Perform document searches requested by attorneys from court or government agencies via electronic systems or in person
Prepare litigation documents for production, including redacting if necessary, and prepare index table from litigation support databases
Assemble and organize witness files needed for depositions, including retrieval of particular documents and/or information from certain files
Communicate with attorneys and paralegals with respect to specific case files
Monitor electronic docket filings through state and federal agency and commission websites; update in cooperation with the firm docketing department
Assist with assembly of large mailings and prepare certificates of service
Obtain case law or docket information via internet, Westlaw and LexisNexis at the request of attorneys
Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar setting required
Experience working in a law firm preferred
Bachelor’s degree required, pre-law preferred
Excellent organizational skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and various other software and databases
Pursuant to the New York City Human Rights Law and Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this New York or Washington DC based position is $71,200 - $116,200. These figures represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be determined based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley.
