Elderwood's network of Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) are now offering a specialized CNA to HHA Training Program for individuals interested in transitioning into the role of a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) in an assisted living facility.

Location: Elderwood at Cheektowaga

Monday, October 21, 2024 9:00am – 5:00pm

Tuesday, October 22, 2024 9:00am – 5:00pm

What is a Home Health Aide (HHA)?

A Home Health Aide is a trained worker qualified to carry out health care tasks, assist with personal hygiene, housekeeping, and other related supportive tasks to a patient with health care needs in his/her home under the supervision of an RN.

How Do I Enroll for HHA Training?

Apply here! Once your application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted for a personal interview with the facility coordinator. At the time of your first interview you will also take a brief prescreening test. The test score and personal interview will determine your eligibility. 

How Much Does HHA Training Cost?

You only earn money with this opportunity. This training is paid. However, typically this training program costs approximately $1500.00.

Are There Home Health Aide (HHA) Employment Opportunities?

Yes! There is a need for this type of training and job opportunities are available. Once the training is successfully completed you may transition into a full or part time HHA role at Elderwood assisted Living at West Seneca.

Candidates slected for this training opportunity must:

Be able to attend the full training - 2 days, 9a-5p.

What You’ll Learn in the CNA to HHA Training Program:

Specialized care techniques tailored to the unique needs of residents in an assisted living environment.

How to assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.

Strategies for creating a nurturing and safe environment for residents.

Skills to monitor, report, and address residents' health and behavioral changes.

Understanding and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.

Qualifications:

Certified Nurse Aide Transitioning (HHA)

How Do I Qualify? Qualified Applicants Must:

Be Registered in the State Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) and active on the State Nursing Aide Registry with no findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment or misappropriation of property.

Be 17 years of age or older

Possess a high school diploma or GED

Provide immunization records

Pass a physical

Pass a background check

Follow written and verbal instruction

Be able to frequently lift/move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds

Have excellent interpersonal skills

Have a love of caretaking and relationship-building!
