School based (follows school working patterns)
Social workers are based in 8 different High Schools across the county.
Whilst the main focus will be on safeguarding any new referrals from your school (completing CSWA /CIN / CP / CIC) there will be also be many opportunities to become embedded within the school and offer early intervention support to help prevent referrals coming. It has shown that by having social workers in school available to offer expert advice and guidance this has had a positive impact on the number of referrals being made and better communication between agencies,
The Social Workers in Schools project is supported through the DfE.
We are currently recruiting a social worker to be based at Tamworth Enterprise College in Tamworth and Paget High School, Burton. To start ASAP.
This is predominantly a safeguarding social work role, so all of the standard safeguarding work, assessments and visits will be undertaken with children and families.
It is expected that you will be based at the high school for around 4 days a week and you will be supporting the school to work with children and families at the earliest opportunity reducing the need for statutory intervention.
You will have the opportunity to complete group work with students at the school, share information and best practice with teachers and parents.
You’ll need to be:
- A qualified Social Worker, ideally with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
- Have direct experience working with children and families
- Be committed to supporting children to achieve the best outcomes for them
- A strong communicator, able to build relationships effectively and able to adapt to different audiences such as students, teachers, parents
