KidSide, Inc., has been developed to raise and secure funds to provide the best possible services and facilities to the children of Miami-Dade County who have suffered through the conflict of their parents divorce or other litigation in the Family and Domestic Violence Courts. By working with Family Court Services, a unit of the Miami-Dade County Eleventh Circuit Court, Family Division, KidSide, Inc. will strive to ensure that the best interests of the children are considered by their parents as well as the Court.

KidSide, Inc. is delighted to receive donations from persons, firms and corporations dedicated to support the needs of children immersed in family court conflicts. Proceeds will benefit Family Court Services by enhancing services and facilities, funding additional staffing and providing additional hours of operation when possible. Additionally, KidSide, Inc. is available to receive grant funding in its quest to enhance the Family Court Services Units response to the children, parents and Judiciary of the Family and Domestic Violence Courts.

KidSide, a 501(c)3, supports the needs of low-income families referred to Family Court Services, a unit that assists parents and children caught in the web of the Court system in Miamis 11th judicial circuit. We provide critical assistance, counseling, and other resources to children from low-income families involved in cases like high conflict divorce, paternity, domestic violence, or abuse.

As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide essential therapeutic services to children and adolescents affected by familial conflicts, legal disputes, and trauma. Your role will be pivotal in helping these young individuals cope, heal, and build resilience in the face of challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities:

Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions with children and adolescents, using evidence-based therapeutic approaches to address trauma, anxiety, depression, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.

Facilitate group therapy sessions that provide peer support and foster a sense of community among children facing similar issues.

Engage in family therapy to support healthy communication, conflict resolution, and emotional healing within the family unit.

Perform comprehensive mental health assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide appropriate diagnoses.

Offer immediate psychological support and crisis intervention services to children experiencing acute distress.

Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and legal professionals to coordinate care and advocate for the best interests of the child within the Family Court System.

Educate families, caregivers, and court professionals about the mental health needs of children, advocating for necessary interventions and support.

Maintain accurate and confidential records of all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with organizational and legal requirements.

Stay updated with the latest research, methodologies, and best practices in child and adolescent mental health.

Requirements:

Masters degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Current state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting, preferably within a non-profit, advocacy, or trauma-informed care environment.

Strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and family dynamics.

Excellent communication, empathy, and active listening skills.
