My client is an established multi-disciplined civil engineering contractor and with recent awards of various long-term delivery programmes are recruiting for a Bid Writer in the West Midlands.

Leading the quality aspects of proposal submissions for civil engineering works, candidates will work with various regional tender teams to develop customer solutions promptly, to a high standard and secure sufficient work by value and type to meet the company's objectives.

Additional responsibilities include:

* Reading tender documents to appreciate requirements and raising any key issues to the Bid Manager.

* Defining and incorporating win strategies into bid submissions and understanding the quality section scoring requirements.

* Developing delivery plans for bids per company procedures.

* Obtaining buy-in from business units for bids to support response development.

* Co-coordinating and producing all supporting documentation required for bid submissions and applying internal values to create differential for company bids.

* Ensuring all tender meetings are conducted and recorded, under company procedures.

* Attending key tender meetings including start-up, mid-term review and adjudication minimum.

* Assembling bid documents and ensuring delivery to customer's requirements.

* Evaluating all documentation and gaining a complete understanding of the client project brief to identify deliverables.

* Presenting key customer requirements.

* Presenting basis of bid (non-estimating).

* Ensuring bids are prepared following company procedures.

* Ensuring bid sign-off and any significant post-tender amendments are authorised.

* Developing work case studies in prepare “tender handover packs.”

Successful candidates will possess:

* Solid understanding of commercial aspects including terms and conditions, and procurement models used in civil engineering.

* Strong organisational skills to ensure the bid process is well-coordinated in a timely process.

* Previous experience in the civil infrastructure, rail, tunnelling or water sectors.

* Knowledge of current HSEQ requirements.

* IT proficiency with MS Office.

* Exceptional technical writing ability.

* Completion of formal bid writing course (desirable).

* Adept at delivering high-quality, compelling output promptly against the client’s submission programme.

* Ability to review and improve written bid submissions.
