Job Description

As a Senior Environmental Scientist, your role is multifaceted and critical in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable projects. You may manage projects, work with regulators, coordinate with clients, and collaborate with team members. You may also mentor and train others on complex work and lead client and regulatory meetings.
National Environmental Policy Act: Develop required NEPA documentation: Categorical Exclusion, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Impact Statement
Interface with agencies (e.g., lead federal agency, state agencies, State Historic Preservation Office [SHPO], USACE, USFWS) to secure necessary reviews and guidance.
Guide a multidisciplinary team (telecom, water resources, transportation).
Regulatory Compliance:Navigate complex federal, state, and local regulations.
Keep abreast of evolving environmental law.
Attain necessary permits and clearances (Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Section 404 Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act)
Public Engagement and Outreach:Organize public meetings, workshops, and hearings.
Solicit community input to shape projects.
Communicate project details transparently.
Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Work:Collaborate with engineers, architects, and urban planners.
Integrate environmental considerations into project design.
Facilitate cross-disciplinary teamwork.
Project Management:Manage transportation projects from inception to completion.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Coordinate with subconsultants, clients and agencies.
Mentoring and Field Work:Mentor colleagues on complex tasks.
Conduct field observations and site visits.
