Overview:
Starting pay for this position is $17.60/hour.
POSITION SUMMARY: The EKG Technician attaches patients to electrocardiograph machines and/or heart monitors to record electrocardiograms for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating heart disorders/disease. Explains procedures to patients, attaches electrode leads, monitors patients and strips during tests, and stores results for review by cardiologist. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School/GED
Licenses/Certifications:
BLS from the American Heart Association
Experience:
Must successfully complete EKG training upon hire.
Other skills/knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associates Degree
Experience:
EKG or direct patient care experience
Other requirements/information:
Work requires ability to read, write and communicate effectively with other members of the Patient Care Team, in person, by telephone and computer messaging, at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Analytical ability necessary to prioritize own work load to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Completing and Passing EKG class, as well as passing EKG competency every 12 months.
