General Summary:

Under direct supervision, performs manual and semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction work on airport buildings, grounds and equipment. Operates a variety of manual and power tools in the performance of duties. Loads and unloads supplies and equipment weighing in excess of 125 pounds. Inspects airfields and buildings, reporting irregularities encountered. May work day, afternoon or midnight shifts and/or weekends or any combination as assigned at all County owned airports. Cleans and assists in the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. Is alert to hazards and uses safe techniques on the job. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Have passed their 18th birthday; OR be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirements for the General Educational Development Test (GED); OR be an emancipated minor.

 Have had at least six (6) months of full-time work experience involving building, trades, construction, mechanical, or airport maintenance work and operations.

 Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.

Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

 Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Special Requirements:

Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

Pay Range:

USD $37,225.00 - USD $49,873.00 /Yr.
