Major Position Responsibilities:

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite.

Summary: Designs, develops, and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component, or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes, and reports test results. Maintains & follows test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop specific calibrations and tests.

Possess the knowledge for any necessary part preparation before or after testing.

Possess the knowledge to interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection the results of the test.

Document the results in accordance with the specification.

Support and maintain equipment and assure proper function.

Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.

Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques

Maintain documentation for training and experience hours for all disciplines.

IMPACT OF THE ROLE:

Performs manual tasks according to established procedures.

Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-th-job experience. 

Completes a variety of atypical assignments.

Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.

Works with limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments. 

Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. 

For Mesquite Operations: This will be for Second Shift Position.

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

Vocational/Technical Training Degree

Preferred: Associate's Degree

Discipline/Major: Technical School or an applicable skilled traded program. 

3-5 years prior experience 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Technical Expertise

Problem-Solving Skills and Time Management Skills

Manual dexterity.

Required Newar Vision Acuity and Color Perception

Additional Certifications: 

State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements

Preferred: 

Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation. 

Physical Demands:

Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. 

Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.

May need to stand for long periods of time.

Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.

This position is Safety Sensitive.

None or very little travel likely.
