Alecto Recruitment are assisting a global water management organisation with their recruitment of a Civils Project Manager on a permanent basis.

As a global leader in water management solutions, the company offer complete groundwater control and management services encompassing design, installation and maintenance programmes to businesses throughout the UK and Ireland.

With sites across the UK and employing more than 70 staff, they work across many industry sectors and are proud to have been part of some the largest infrastructure schemes across the UK, including Crossrail, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the London Olympic Park, Thames Tideway and HS2

The Role:

The principal function of Project Manager is the on site implementation of groundwater control schemes for projects you are responsible for. This will include a split of approximately 3 days on site and 2 days in the office, with responsibility of effective client communication, commercial management, technical success, and profitability.

Duties include:

Operational and Commercial Project Management duties.
Delivering contractual obligations as directed by the contracts manager.
To supervise site activities and closely liaise with the clients site staff, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Maintaining good quality documentary record of contractual activities including the collection, collation, and presentation of monitoring data.
To perform project management and dissemination responsibilities, including drafting of regular progress reports as required & participating in both internal and external project meetings.
Preparing Method Statements, including working drawings and works procedures.
Appoint and brief the site teams, including specialist subcontractors.
Define the project programme and ensure contractual targets are met.
Prepare, issue, and negotiate monthly payment applications.
Undertake business development activities for new projects. This may involve site visits to collect information and discuss our client's requirements, pursuing tenders, assisting in the preparation of tenders & quotations.
Take responsibility for your own health and safety and to prepare Risk Assessments for site activities.
Brief, check and audit site staff to ensure safe working practices are being followed.
Directly line manage site and monitoring staff

The Candidate:

To be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate strong civils and/or geotechnical skills, with experience of project managing construction sites in the UK, particularly with regards to excavation, piling, ground control schemes or similar.

We will also consider candidates from construction and/or civil backgrounds, preferably with knowledge of dewatering.

The role is a combination of site and office based within the UK, with occasions where you will need to work outside the UK at one of the overseas branches either in an advisory capacity or to give or receive training or providing support. It will also require the ability to work on site, access shafts and walk along tunnels, so you must be comfortable with this.

In addition to the above, the company offer an extensive training and development program upon completion of the probationary period, which includes undertaking training courses suitable for the progression of your career which includes PRINCE2 foundation and practitioner or similar.
