Technical Operator – £31,212 (Shift Premium Included)
Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands

At Nelson Permanent Placements we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Technical Operator to join a well-established company in West Bromwich, working within a specialist chemical manufacturing environment. This role is essential to the smooth operation of production processes, ensuring high-quality output in a fast-paced setting.

Shift Pattern:

This position operates on a 5-crew shift system, working 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off. Shifts are 12 hours long:

* Day shifts: 06:00 – 18:00

* Night shifts: 18:00 – 06:00
You will also benefit from an 18-day break every 8 weeks, with 1 day dedicated to training. The schedule includes weekends and most bank holidays, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

Key Responsibilities:

* Monitor and manage chemical reactions, distillations, separations, transfers, and filtrations.

* Handle powders and work with vacuum systems, nitrogen, and control panels.

* Adapt to changing processes and procedures with flexibility.

* Work within designated GMP areas, ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines.

Experience and Skills Required:

* Prior experience in a process operator role, preferably within the chemical manufacturing industry.

* Strong commitment to health and safety, with familiarity in COSHH and risk assessments.

* Ideally, you have completed an IOSH Working Safely qualification.

* Holding a counterbalance forklift truck licence is advantageous.

Qualifications:

* GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 'C' or above (or equivalent) are required.

* A relevant Level 2 vocational qualification or above would be beneficial.

Additional Information:

* The salary for this role is £31,212, which includes a shift premium.

* There will be two annual shutdown periods (one in the summer and one at Christmas). During these weeks, affected personnel will not be required to work and will be paid. A system for accruing or paying back hours will be in place.
