Here at Mercator, we are currently on the lookout for a Technical Writer for some upcoming contract roles for HMRC.

Essential

Must have experience of infrastructure used as a platform for a range of applications.

Has experience as a Technical Author and produced documentation for at least one complex and significant system.

Has proven ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into simple, accessible content.

Can explain complex, technical ideas in a way the target audience of technical and non technical people can understand.

Has produced structured documentation and can explain why a certain structure was chosen.

Has worked in an agile environment and likes to work in a dynamic environment.

Champion good documentation but is able to be pragmatic when required - Strong opinions, loosely held.

Is genuinely interested in making technology accessible.

Desirable

Experience of creating documentation for infrastructure

Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure offering

Experience from documenting software APIs

Understanding of open source software and approach to documentation

This would be a contract role and remote with occasional travel required.
