Overview:

Acrisure Arena is seeking an Operations Ice Plant Manager to oversee all ice operations at the Arena and Training facility/Berger Foundation Iceplex. This position will also help with the conversions and overall operations of events at the Arena.  This position is also key to the arena’s relationship with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the AHL as well as the Seattle Kraken and NHL.

The Operations Ice Plant Manager reports to the Senior Director of Operations Director (Operations Leaders and is responsible for assisting in the administration, planning, budgeting and direction for the operations of the Center including technical services, conversion, custodial services, and equipment inventory control. Insures an effective and cost efficient program by controlling the Operations budget, and performs related day to day responsibilities as required.

Manages all elements of facility Ice Plant Operations including budgeting, purchasing, directs the operation and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, custodial, ice rink grounds, smoke/fire detectors and traffic control. Manager will serve as facility safety champion to maintain a safe and secure facility for the public and employees.

This role will pay a yearly salary of $80,000 to $86,000 plus bonus

Responsibilities:

Operational Duties & Responsibilities:

Assists the operations leaders in the overall daily operation and maintenance of the facilities.  

Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for all event changeovers; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures;

Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.

Manage, and review the work plan for ice crew members, facility maintenance and operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures.

Manage labor hours for staff and temporary workers. 

Participate in the development and administration of the Operations Ice Plant budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.

Manage facility arrangements and monitor the work of contractors; including equipment rental and borrowing City/County equipment as applicable. Report any issues to Senior Operations Leaders immediately.

Ensure staff is working safely, efficiently and are aware of proper safety guidelines. Conduct monthly safety meeting.

Order supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies.

Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.

Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system; including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.

Experience and working knowledge of zamboni ice equipment, ther ice equipment, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing.

Essential Ice Plant Duties & Responsibilities:

Run day to day ice operations at Acrisure Arena.

Install an NHL quality ice sheet.

Ice recoveries, ice removal, maintenance, and preparation for conversions.

Help with planning and set up of 3rd party ice shows.

Scheduling of AHL game day related staff including ice crew and shovelers.

Scheduling of drivers for the Berger Foundation Iceplex

Work with Coachella Valley Firebirds team official and NHL officials (on and off ice) to create the best possible ice conditions.

Help with cleaning and maintaining hockey related equipment.

Maintain Zambonis and related systems. Fast ice, Ice leveler, and Zamboni connect.

Help maintain Ice plant, jet ice water treatment and rain to rink system.

Install dasher ads and maintain throughout the season

Be a liaison to the AHL officials, AHL Operations and Acrisure Arena operations staff.

Assist with Conversions as needed.

Manage special projects as assigned





Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 5–7-year experience working in a venue with AHL or NHL events.

Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.

Work in an operations department at a similar facility in size and operations.

Experience working with AHL or NHL quality ice rinks.

Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. 

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.

Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional experience in leading, motivating and developing employees.

A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.

Must be an effective communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) preferred; High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.

Familiarity with OSHA requirements Strong interpersonal skills required; including excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English languageSelf-motivated and directed with excellent planing skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days.



Working Conditions

Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.

Frequent bending, lifting 75 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.
