A leading Civil Engineering and Rail Infrastructure Main Contractor are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for a permanent position near Glasgow.

This is an excellent opportunity for either Quantity Surveyor or Estimator looking to continue their professional development and hone their skills and experience in a rail and civil engineering project environment.

This role is unique in that it will be a blend of both a Quantity Surveyor and Estimating role working on a long-term, secure framework.

* The client is a leading UK business operating primarily within construction and infrastructure schemes;

* Due to ongoing and future pending contracts, this is an excellent opportunity to work with one of the UK's largest contractors and get exposure to interesting and prestigious projects.

* Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as Roads, bridges, footbridges, tunnels, underbridges, flood alleviation/repairs, embankments and rail platforms etc.

What you’ll be doing:

* The successful Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will be responsible for preparing tender and contract documents, including performing risk, value management and cost control;

* Working on civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects, you will also be responsible for managing costs from inception to completion to minimise cost and maximising value for money.

* Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time

* Resolving pricing issues with clients

* Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day-to-day remits

* Subcontractor management

* Change management and early warning

* Contract administration (NEC forms of contract)

What you’ll need to be successful:

* The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified, with at least an HNC in Quantity Surveying;

* Experience in rail infrastructure, although any civil engineering background will be considered;

* At least 3+ years’ post-graduate experience in Quantity Surveying;

* Experience in dealing with NEC Contracts is beneficial.

* The works are fast paced and high in volume and requires an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast pace environment
