A major contractor is looking for a BIM Engineer to join their specialist BIM team in Birmingham with previous highway engineering design experience.
You will be required to use the detailed highway designs and create BIM Models for major infrastructure projects alongside Local Authorities across Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will also be given the opportunity to learn how to conduct site surveys including Drone surveys.
This role can offer someone in Birmingham with a passion for design engineering the opportunity to be involved in innovative design technologies and be part of projects as they're being built.
Previous experience and an understanding of BIM principles and design is essential but you by no means have to be an expert and training from the lead BIM engineer and the team will be abundantly on offer.
BIM Engineer Responsibilities
Model Coordination aggregate and coordinate multiple discipline-specific BIM models.
Facilitate regular BIM coordination meetings to review models and address issues.
Perform clash detection and resolution using software tools like Navisworks.
Work closely with project stakeholders (architects, engineers, contractors) to ensure effective collaboration.
Ensure that BIM models comply with project standards and industry best practices.
Conduct regular quality checks and audits on the BIM models.
Manage and update the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
Produce detailed construction documents and reports from the coordinated BIM models.
Maintain accurate records of BIM-related activities and decisions.
Generate and distribute clash reports and other relevant documentation.
Assist the BIM Manager/Project Manager in developing project schedules and timelines.
Monitor the progress of BIM-related tasks and ensure timely completion.
Conduct regular site visits and surveys including Drone SurveysBIM engineer Requirements
Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Previous Highways Engineering design experience (preferably of Local Authority major projects)
Have a good understanding of BIM Standards.
