Position Summary:

The communications specialist coordinates all service requests for the Air Care Team, the hospital’s air ambulance helicopter service, critical care ground transport, and the Emergency Transfer Center.

Responsibilities:

• Performs primary flight following duties for all Air Care Team aircraft.

• Communicates with all flight crew as needed relaying important information to ensure safe flight and increase situational

awareness.

• Provides the safe conduction of all flight operations for all heliports, FSED’s, and Bases affiliated with the Air Care Team

located on Orlando Health campuses both visually and via radio when applicable.

• Coordinates all ground medical communications for APH team.

• Coordinates all critical care ground medical communications for ORMC, and all Orlando Health (OH) facilities.

• Coordination of interfacility transport of patients within the OH system/network.

• Answers incoming requests for service and coordinates operations for both the Air Care Team and Emergency Transfer

Center utilizing multiple telephones, computers, mapping software, radios, flight application(s), dispatch software, and

other technology/software as required.

Qualifications:

Education/Training

High School Graduate or equivalent.

Medical Terminology course; or

State of Florida EMT license may be substituted in lieu of course

Licensure/Certification

None required

CFC certification preferred

Experience

Two (2) years of experience in clinical healthcare setting; or

A State of Florida EMT license may substitute for up to one (1) years of the required experience.
