The Director of Employee Development’s (DED) role is to support and enhance the capabilities of LandCare team members. The DED will execute effective onboarding to assure new employees know how to be successful in their role and create individualized development plans to prepare team members for advancement. They will also provide guidance to managers to assure that regular and effective coaching is being delivered to their teams. Success in the role will be measured in three fundamental ways:

Employee retention

Employee engagement scores (surveyed annually company-wide)

LandCare’s ability to fill leadership roles via internal promotion versus outside hiring

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Lead the onboarding process for management level employees

Provide guidance to branch leaders on best practices to coach team members

Partner with leaders to build succession plans that will deepen and strengthen the bench

Assist with training and development plans to ready team members for internal promotions

Meet individual region training needs as identified by VPs including facilitation of retreats

Support centralized learning programs by assisting with content creation, delivering training, and reinforcing the learning concepts

Perform stay and exit interviews to understand how to better retain employees

Requirements

Self-starter who works well independently, but who also thrives in a team environment

College degree and a minimum of 3-5 years related professional experience required

Intellectual curiosity and a desire to achieve strong business performance through measurable results

Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy

Strong research, administrative, computer and problem-solving skills
